Cogswell Trust supports dental care for homeless with $25K grant to Families First
PORTSMOUTH, NH – The Cogswell Benevolent Trust recently granted $25,000 to Families First Health and Support Center to support dental care for homeless patients. Families First provides these services through its van-based Health Care for the Homeless program and also at Families First Dental Center. Most of the Cogswell grant will be used to make up the difference between the cost of providing dental care to approximately 300 homeless patients each year and the small amount of reimbursement Families First receives. The other $5,000 goes to a fund to help homeless and other indigent patients obtain dentures. Families First Health, the Seacoast’s community health center, provides affordable primary, prenatal and oral health care; parenting and family classes and groups; one-on-one family support; and mobile health care for people who are homeless.
