Rite Aid Foundation pitches in to provide health care for uninsured

PORTSMOUTH, NH – The Rite Aid Foundation recently awarded $5,000 to Families First Health and Support Center to contribute to the cost of providing health care for patients who lack health insurance.

Families First, the Seacoast’s community health center, offers a discount to uninsured patients based on their income. Some patients pay as little as $10 per visit. “Contributions from organizations like Rite Aid are essential to make up the difference between what we collect from uninsured patients and what it actually costs Families First to provide the care,” says Families First Executive Director Helen Taft.

“The Rite Aid Foundation is pleased to be able to partner with Families First Health and Support Center to provide much needed health care to those who have no insurance,” said Gayle Rife, manager of The Rite Aid Foundation. “It is organizations like Families First that fill the unmet needs in our communities.”

Families First Health and Support Center provides affordable primary, prenatal and oral health care; parenting and family programs; one-on-one family support; and mobile health care for people who are homeless.
