Families First Staff donates to SeaCare
Exeter, NH SeaCare Health Services recently received a donation from employees of Families First Health and Support Center, a fellow nonprofit health care agency located in Portsmouth, NH.
The donation, in the amount of $181, was made by Families First nurses and medical assistants in honor of the Families First medical staff -- Robert Slocum, DO; Lynne Henning, ARNP; Eileen McCarthy, ARNP; Robert Millstein, MD; Gene Harkless, ARNP; and Margot Kingston, ARNP as well as in honor of volunteer physician Barbara Deuell, MD, and in memory of Leslie LeDuc, a former Families First provider who passed away last year.
Families First and SeaCare share a commitment to caring for uninsured and underinsured people in the communities they serve. Their services complement one another, which makes this non-profit collaboration so important to the Seacoast.
SeaCare provides care coordination services and access to medical care for uninsured adults through a volunteer network of over 400 health care professionals. They include primary and specialty physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health therapists, chiropractors and complimentary/alternative medical practitioners that donate their time and services to care for SeaCare participants. Families First is a medical home for any child or adult, insured or uninsured. The nonprofit community health center provides affordable primary, prenatal and oral health care; parenting classes and family programs; mobile health care for the homeless, and home visiting services.
SeaCare and Families First work very closely together, with Families First serving as a primary care provider in SeaCare's network, while Families First patients who are enrolled in SeaCare receive access to SeaCare's network of volunteer specialty providers and lab services through LabCorp.
The Families First staff members chose to make the donation to SeaCare to show appreciation for all SeaCare does in connecting Families First patients with specialty care.
According to SeaCare's Health Services Director Nancy Sauter, "SeaCare is grateful for this thoughtful gift and is appreciative of the Primary Care Services that Families First continues to provide to our participants." Executive Director, Kathy Crompton, adds, "SeaCare and Families First enjoy a long history of collaboration and cooperation. It is wonderful to be chosen by our peers to receive this gift."
