A group for grandparents

PORTSMOUTH – It’s often said that children don’t come with an instruction manual — and neither do grandchildren! That’s why Families First Health and Support Center, which offers over a dozen parenting classes and family programs each month, now offers a Grandparenting group.

The group is designed for grandparents, great grandparents and grandparents-to-be, whether living near or far from the grandkids. Led by grandfather and longtime Families First volunteer Jack Jamison, it will include presentations and discussions on the joys and challenges of the grandparenting experience, navigating the three-generation relationship, parenting and kids "these days," and how to keep connected whether near or far.

Grandparenting will meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Community Campus in Portsmouth. There is no charge. To register, call Families First at 603-422-8208 (press 2). Families First, the Seacoast’s community health center, offers affordable health and dental care as well as a wide range of parenting classes, support groups and family programs.
