Dan Brown Book-Signing to Raise Money for Families First

EXETER – Best-selling author Dan Brown will appear at a holiday book-signing to benefit Families First Health and Support Center. “Families First gives to the community 365 days a year,” Brown said of the Seacoast’s community health center. “The holidays are a perfect opportunity for Seacoast residents to celebrate that generosity and give a little something back to an organization that helps so many people.”

Water Street Bookstore, at 125 Water Street in downtown Exeter, will host Brown's signing on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Families First will receive a donation equal to the full price of every Dan Brown novel sold during that time. This will be Brown's last public signing for the next 14 months.

Brown will sign copies of his current #1 national bestseller The Da Vinci Code and his other novels, Angels & Demons, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress. (Only books purchased during the event will be signed.) The author also will unveil his surprise holiday project for children — Musica Animalia — poems and music for kids of all ages. Sales of Musica Animalia, too, will go entirely to support Families First.

Bookstore co-owner Dan Chartrand noted that the event is “a great chance to buy the No. 1 best-selling novel in the country and have it personalized by the author as a holiday gift, knowing that 100% of the book’s retail price is going to a wonderful cause.”

Water Street Bookstore also carries Families First’s Artists of the Seacoast calendars and notecards, another fundraising project for Families First. Those who aren’t able to come to the store can order calendars, notecards and Dan Brown’s Musica Animalia CDs by sending $15 per CD; $16.50 per calendar; and $13.50 per package of 12 notecards to Nancy Casko, Families First, 100 Campus Drive, Suite 12, Portsmouth, NH, 03801. (Prices include shipping.)

Families First Health and Support Center, located at the Community Campus in Portsmouth, is an independent nonprofit agency that provides a broad range of health and family support services to individuals and families, regardless of ability to pay.

A medical home for the most vulnerable Seacoast residents, Families First projects serving more than 4,000 people with primary medical care, oral health care, prenatal care, health education and counseling and other health services this year. At the same time, some 650 families will receive support and parenting education in groups or one-on-one, decreasing the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. Families First also sends mobile health care teams to serve homeless people throughout eastern Rockingham and Strafford counties.
